The Female Workforce

Many women surveyed had experienced or were experiencing hot flashes. More than half of women surveyed felt that their colleagues have been supportive as they dealt with these symptoms on the job.

Women play a critical role in the workforce. In 2012, 26.8 million working women aged 45 to 64 made up almost 20% of the total civilian labor force. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the number of working women in this age range to grow by 3.8 million from 2012 to 2018.

While hot flashes can be the most bothersome menopausal symptom, a few adjustments can make a difference. In general, women should speak with their healthcare professionals for help with managing bothersome menopausal symptoms.
